Raymond girls ranked third

Raymond moved up one place to third in the Associated Press state Class 2B girls basketball poll released Wednesday.

Raymond is fourth and Willapa Valley eighth in the 2B boys rankings.

Wishkah teams to play at Elma

Wishkah’s teams will open play in a bi-district Class 1B basketball tournament Tuesday at Elma High School, Wishkah athletic director Mark Maxfield reported.

The Wishkah girls will face Lyle or Yakama Tribal at 5:30 p.m., with the Logger boys probably opposing Lyle at approximately 7:15 p.m.

Elma to update athletic handbook

A meeting regarding the updating of Elma High School’s athletic handbook is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the high school commons.

The Elma High athletic department is beginning the process of updating the handbook, athletic director Rick Rakevich reported. Public input is being sought at the meeting.

Baseball tryout scheduled Sunday

The Bulls, a traveling 12-U baseball team based in Hoquiam, has scheduled a tryout for 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hoquiam High School gym.
