Miranda wins Bobcat mat awards

Senior Jaime Miranda won four major awards at the Aberdeen High School wrestling banquet recently.

Miranda was named the team’s Most Valuable Wrestler and also received the Inspirational and BAGUBA (Brutally Aggressive Guy Uninhibited by Adversity) awards. He also shared the Captain’s Award with Jose Duran and David Garcia.

Hoquiam Youth Baseball sign-ups, tryouts set for Saturday

Hoquiam Youth Baseball registration and tryouts are scheduled from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hoquiam High School Gym.

Registration will be open to boys and girls in the 4-12 age group. Major league tryouts will be conducted for 10-12-year-old players not yet on a major league team.

Hoquiam Babe Ruth registration due

Hoquiam Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth registration is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Mr. T’s Batting Cage adjacent to Olympic Stadium. Registration is open to boys in the 13-15 age group and Senior Babe Ruth players.

Fastpitch clinic planned for Hoquiam

The Hoquiam Girls Fastpitch Association will sponsor a free clinic Saturday at the Hoquiam High School Gym.

Conducted by members of the Hoquiam High School softball team, the clinic is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 8 and under players and 11 a.m. for 10-U and 12-U teams.

Registration for the Hoquiam Girls Fastpitch Association will be accepted at the clinic. This will be the league’s final registration session. Further information may be obtained by contacting Mike Cummings at 589-9325.
