Open Wheel Showdown due at Elma
The Pepsi Open Wheel Showdown is scheduled for Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma.
Saturday’s race will be a prelude to the return of the national World of Outlaws Tour, scheduled for Aug. 29 at the Elma oval.
The Open Wheel Showdown will feature competition in the 360 Sprints, Modifieds and Midgets classes. Racing begins at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday’s race is sponsored by Pepsi and Harbor Pacific Bottling Co. Adults who bring an AMP Energy Drink can will receive $3 off their admission. A pair of contests that will include tickets to the Geico 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Chicago and a Chicago White Sox baseball game are also planned. Those contests are co-sponsored by AMP Energy Drink and KDUX-FM radio.
Coughlin aces at Oaksridge
Denny Coughlin scored his first hole-in-one last week at Oaksridge Golf Course.
Coughlin used a No. 6 rescue club to ace the 150-yard 12th hole. Don Kinzle witnessed the shot.
