Pre-sale of Hoquiam-Monte tickets set

Tickets for the Hoquiam at Montesano football game, scheduled for Friday, will be pre-sold this week at the Montesano High School office. There will be no pre-sale of tickets in Hoquiam.

The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Rottle Field. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m. to accommodate an anticipated large crowd.

Hoquiam jayvees blank Bobcats

Kenny Wakefield opened the scoring with a 30-yard touchdown run and Hoquiam went on to beat Aberdeen, 25-0, in a junior varsity football game Monday at Sea Breeze Oval.

Tyler White scored on runs of 8 and 10 yards and also kicked a conversion. Hoquiam’s other touchdown came when Michael Harris returned a fumble for a touchdown.

Harris also blocked a punt. Wakefield and Dante Lopez recovered fumbles and Angel Mazariegos and Tahj Malone intercepted passes for Hoquiam.

Taholah-Lummi game shifted

The Taholah-Lummi football game, originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been shifted to 7 p.m. Friday at the new field on Lummi’s campus, Taholah interim athletic director Melissa Straka reported.

Klein shares 2nd in state women’s senior

Gretchen Klein of Grays Harbor Country Club is tied for second after the opening round of the Washington State Women’s Golf Association State Senior Women’s Amateur golf tournament Monday at Overlake Country Club in Medina.

Klein carded an opening 81, five strokes behind leader Jeanne Link of Seattle. The 36-hole tournament concludes today.

Scott-Cosper team wins GHCC best ball

The team of Don Scott and Tom Cosper captured the Grays Harbor Country Club Best Ball golf tournament Sunday.

Scott and Cosper finished with a 36-hole total of 138 to edge Dennis Sliva and Jerry Langbraaten and the father-son duo of Mike and John Sand.

Zach Edwards and Jimmy Parker took net honors with a 110 total. Final standings:

Westport Boat Basin Derby set

The Westport Boat Basin Salmon Derby is scheduled to begin Saturday.

Fishing will be conducted off the docks at Westport. The derby will run through Oct. 31. Prizes will be offered. No derby ticket purchase will be required.

Poggies to meet Wednesday

A Grays Harbor Poggie Club meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoquiam Elks Hall.
