Raymond v-ball tourney today

Eight schools will participate in the Raymond Invitational volleyball tournament, scheduled for today.

Willapa Valley, Ocosta, North Beach, Northwest Christian, Orting, Tacoma Baptist and Ilwaco will join the host Gulls in the tournament.

Pool play begins at 9 a.m., with single-elimination bracket competition planned for approximately 1 p.m.

Wrestling clinic due in Aberdeen

Oregon State University assistant wrestling coach Troy Steiner is scheduled to conduct the Grays Harbor Wrestling Technique Clinic, scheduled for Oct. 27 at Sam Benn Gym.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Steiner was a four-time All-American at the University of Iowa and won an NCAA championship in 1992. Wrestling at 134 and 142 pounds, he compiled a careeer record of 148-13.

The clinic is open to both high school and youth wrestlers throughout Grays Harbor. Participants are asked to provide clean wrestling gear.

The registration fee is $25, which includes lunch. Checks should be made payable to the Aberdeen High School Wrestling Booster Club. Participants are asked to email their name, weight, grade level and wrestling experience to Mike Machowek at AHS (mmachowek@asd5.org) no later than Oct. 19.

Softball tryouts set for Sunday

The Grays Harbor Force 10-U and 12-U fastpitch teams have scheduled tryouts for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bishop Complex in Aberdeen.
