Current fishing topics will be discussed. The meeting is open to the public.

Monte soccer field day planned

The third annual Montesano Youth Soccer Field Day is scheduled for Sept. 8 at Beacon Elementary School.

Fishing derby set for Grays Harbor

The second annual Horns & Hooks Fishing Derby is scheduled Sept. 20-22 in the Grays Harbor bay.

The event is co-sponsored by Grays Harbor Tourism and Horns & Hooks Outdoor Magazine. Proceeds from the event will benefit Youth Outdoors Unlimited (YOU), a registered non-profit organization. Youngsters from that organization will be featured in the Sept. 21 portion of the derby. They will be accompanied by volunteer guides in fishing in the bay.

Advance tickets, priced at $10 per day or $20 for all three days, are available at all Dennis Company stores, Harbor Saw & Supply in Hoquiam and the Horns & Hooks retail outlet in Montesano. Tickets are also available during the derby at the Westport Marina or the Johns River and 28th Street boat launches.

Information about volunteering may be obtained by going online at you@youthoutdoorsu.org. Additional information is available on the Grays Harbor Tourism website, www.visitgraysharbor.com.
