Harborites win divisions in WSWGA senior golf

Ann Swanson, formerly of Grays Harbor, and Gretchen Klein of Hoquiam were among the winners in the Washington State Golf Association Senior Women’s Championships recently at Broadmoor Country Club in Seattle.

Swanson, who now resides in the Bellevue area, took gross honors in her age group with a 36-hole total of 170.

Klein was the net champion in a different age group with a 150. She would have finished second in the gross division of that age group.

Pat Terry of Wenatchee was the overall gross champion with a 159 total.

Bulldog JV squad trounces Aberdeen

Logan Truax scored three touchdowns as Montesano crushed Aberdeen, 54-0, in a junior varsity football game Monday at Rottle Field.

Jacob Izatt tallied twice for the Bulldogs, while quarterback Jordan Bussard ran for one touchdown and passed to Justin Marsh for another.

Aberdeen season tickets on sale

Annual and fall tickets to Aberdeen High School sporting events are currently on sale at the high school comptroller’s office.

The fall sports ticket would offer admission to 10 fall home games at a cost of $45 for adults and $27 for senior citizens. The annual sports ticket provides admission to all Aberdeen home games throughout the 2013-14 school year (excluding postseason) events for $75.

Reserve seat ticket for football are also still available. Further information may be obtained by contacting the comptroller’s office at 538-2052.

Hoquiam Bombers tryouts Sunday

The Hoquiam Bombers girls fastpitch softball team will hold tryouts this Sunday for three of its four teams at Gable Park in Hoquiam.

The 10U and 12U tryouts are at 11 a.m. and the 16U tryouts are at 1 p.m. Tryouts for the 14U squad will be on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m., also at Gable Park.

Wishkah Fun Run due Saturday

The annual Wishkah Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday at the school.

The event will include 3-mile and 5-mile runs, beginning at 9 a.m. It is sponsored by the Wishkah National Honor Society, with proceeds going to Relay for Life.

The entry fees are $10 for adults and $2 for students.

Husky telecast on Big Ten Network

Saturday’s Washington at Illinois college football game will be telecast only on the Big Ten Network (Channels 404 or 632 on the Comcast cable system).

The kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. There will be no local radio broadcast of the game, as UW affiliate KXRO is contractually obligated to carry a Seattle Mariners-St. Louis Cardinals broadcast.

Raceway season to resume Saturday

Following a week’s absence, racing will resume at Grays Harbor Raceway on Saturday.

A full lineup of all five of the Raceway’s staple classes is scheduled. Competition is scheduled for the 360 sprint cars, modifieds, midgets, street stocks and hornets.

The track’s season championships are planned for Sept. 28.

Scott-Cosper win GHCC Best Ball

Don Scott and Tom Cosper combined to capture the Grays Harbor Country Club Two-Man Best Ball last weekend.

Scott and Cosper finished with a 36-hole gross total of 136.

Tom LaCasse and Dan McCracken took net honors with a 120 total. Final standings:
