South Beach, Elma win Little League T of C tourneys

Elma and South Beach captured Little League Tournament of Champions baseball tournaments that concluded last week.

South Beach concluded an unbeaten run to the title in the 11-12 T of C at Elma’s Smith-Murray Park.

The Westport-area club downed Larch Mountain, 9-5, in the title game Friday. Larch Mountain had outlasted host Elma in seven innings, 16-13, to gain the title round.

Elma also finished unbeaten in the 9-10 T of C in Centralia. The Elmans topped Montesano, 10-2, in the title contest Saturday.

Montesano had advanced to the title round with a 10-8 win over Larch Mountain.

Aberdeen plans baseball & basketball camps

The Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department will host baseball and basketball camps this summer.

The baseball camp, co-sponsored by the Aberdeen High School baseball team, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 15-18 at Pioneer Park.

The camp is open to boys and girls in the 8-13 age group. The registration fee of $80 includes the cost of a camp T-shirt. Players need to provide their own equipment.

The basketball camp is planned Aug. 5-8 at the Grays Harbor College gym. This camp is open to incoming fourth-through-sixth grade boys and girls and will run from 1 to 3 p.m. daily.

Former Grays Harbor College men’s basketball coach Gary Arthur will conduct the camp, assisted by former Choker standout and current assistant coach Jonathan Hubbard.

The fee of $40 includes the cost of a T-shirt.

Team photo policy outlined

The Daily World is accepting photos of area youth softball and baseball teams that are competing in tournaments this summer.

To be eligible for publication, teams must have won a league championship or invitational tournament or have competed in a district or state tournament. Player identification must be provided.
