State berths on the line in football crossover games

Five Twin Harbors football teams will bid for state berths in district crossover games this weekend.

Evergreen 1A League champion Hoquiam will host Toledo in a winner-to-state, loser-out contest scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Olympic Stadium.

At the same time Friday, Montesano faces Castle Rock at Aberdeen’s Stewart Field, while Elma journeys to La Center in other state-qualifying 1A games.

Pacific League runner-up Willapa Valley is home against Mossyrock in a battle of Vikings, while North Beach journeys to Napavine for crossover 2B games. Both those contests are also scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.

Already assured of a state berth, Pacific League champion Raymond has a bye this week. The Gulls will open state by facing the Napavine-North Beach winner at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at Stewart Field, Raymond athletic director Jason Koski announced.

Ocosta will close out its season by taking on Winlock at 7 p.m. Thursday at Stewart Field. Both teams are out of playoff contention.

Taholah and Mary M. Knight will collide for the Coastal League championship in a 1 p.m. contest Saturday at Matlock. Both teams will qualify for state play-in contests Nov. 9 or 10.

Lake Quinault concludes its season at State Deaf on Thursday.
