Montesano 9-10s eliminated from state Little League tournament

OAK HARBOR — Montesano’s stay in the Washington State 9-10 Little League Tournament came to an end on Monday.

After a quick 2-1 lead, Montesano watched as Bainbridge Island used the long ball to trigger nine unanswered runs to eliminate the District III champs, 10-4, in a loser-out contest.

“We just fell short to a couple of home runs balls that got us down,” Monte manager Brad Johansson said. “The kids played hard and represented Montesano well.”

Braden Dorman and Ben Willis each had two hits, with Trace Ridgway and Cooper Johansson each adding one hit each for Monte. Willis, Ridgway and Dorman did their work in the field on the mound.
