TACOMA (AP) — Budda Baker and Jack Meggs each scored two touchdowns as Bellevue rushed for 315 yards in a 35-3 victory over Eastside Catholic to claim their fifth straight Class 3A state championship on Friday night.
Bellevue has never lost in a title game and has now won 10 of the last 12 Class 3A championships and 11 titles across all classifications.
Baker put Bellevue on top early with a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown after a pair of penalties stalled Eastside Catholic’s opening possession. Baker caught the line drive punt at his own 29-yard line and knifed straight through the Eastside Catholic defense for the score.
Jacob Gai’s 33-yard field goal early in the second quarter proved to be the only points of the night for Eastside Catholic in their first trip to the championship game.
