Bobbi Fry had two hits for the Bulldogs (0-1) and Courtney Swan had a double. The Bulldogs, however, were unable to capitalize on many of their scoring chances.

YELM — A five-run fourth inning helped lift Montesano past Class 4A Yelm in a non-league game Friday. Originally scheduled for Montesano, the contest was shifted to Yelm due to superior field conditions.
The Bulldogs (2-0) snapped a 2-2 standoff with their big fourth inning. Zack Nelson’s two-run single and Kody Usher’s RBI single were the key hits in that inning.
“In that fourth inning, we showed good plate discipline, grinding out some at bats, getting guys on base and getting some clutch hits,” Monte coach Mike Bruner said.
Usher finished with three hits and three RBIs, while Nelson added two hits and two RBIs.
After struggling a bit with wet weather conditions in the early innings, Tucker Ibabao settled down and pitched five innings to pick up the victory. Elliot Mendenhall finished up on the mound.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to Evergreen 1A League play Tuesday at Tenino.
