Sharrah resigns from Lake Quinault football post

AMANDA PARK — Veteran Lake Quinault teacher and coach Darren Marshall will coach the Elks for the remainder of the high school football season, Quinault principal and athletic director Keith Samplawski confirmed Monday.

Marshall will succeed Darwin Sharrah, who resigned last week for what Samplawski termed “personal reasons.” Sharrah did not respond to telephone and email messages.

A Raymond High School graduate who is an on-air personality for Grays Harbor Radio, Sharrah was in his third season as Quinault’s football coach. The Elks had a 7-14 record during his career and are 1-2 this season.

Marshall, a former Lake Quinault athlete, has coached junior high football at his alma mater for seven years. He was a high school football assistant during the 2002-03 seasons and has also coached basketball in the past.
