Bobcats lose heartbreaker in baseball

LACEY — For the second time in as many days, Aberdeen was victimized by a walk-off hit.

Elijah Camacho’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave River Ridge a wild 8-7 victory over the Bobcats in an Evergreen 2A Conference baseball game Saturday at Lacey.

Coming off an eight-inning loss at Centralia on Friday, the Bobcats owned an early 4-0 lead on Saturday. River Ridge, however, rallied with seven successive runs to take a 7-4 lead into the seventh.

Grant Bowley’s double, singles by Cole Edwards and Tyler Ames and Deon Schlesser’s infield out in the Aberdeen half of the seventh narrowed the deficit to one. After Jordon Logan kept things alive with a single, Addam Follett delivered a run-scoring single to tie it at 7-all.

The Bobcats, however, failed to record an out in the bottom of the seventh. A lead-off single and two misplayed bunts loaded the bases, setting the stage for Camacho’s game-winning hit.

Aberdeen coach Shon Schreiber said his team didn’t play nearly as well as it did against Centralia.

“It was one of those days today,” he said.

The Bobcats (5-9, 5-11) close out their home season Monday against Centralia.
