EUGENE, Ore. — Bryan McGriff and K.C. Harrison combined for 50 points as hot-shooting Grays Harbor College trounced New Hope Christian, 102-79, in a non-league men’s basketball game Tuesday afternoon at Eugene.
This was the final non-league tune-up for the Chokers (3-6), who enter NWAACC Western Division play Saturday at home against Tacoma Community College.
McGriff poured through 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds. The conference leader in 3-point shooting, Harrison knocked down 5-of-7 attempts from beyond the arc in adding 24 points.
Running their half-court offense in the first half and doing most of their business in the transition game later, the Chokers shot 59 percent from the field and canned 24-of-32 free throws. They also outrebounded the Deacons, 48-30.
“We did a really good job of playing our game,” Choker coach Jordan Altman said. “As a whole, I thought that was our best team effort. Everybody got a chance to contribute.”
Five Chokers wound up scoring in double figures. Grays Harbor’s Sammy Porter handed out six assists.
Corey Gantt topped New Hope Christian with 22 points.
Saturday’s GHC-Tacoma doubleheader is scheduled for Sam Benn Gym, with the women’s game scheduled for 5 p.m. and the men’s contest to follow at 7.
