Weather permitting, the 2014 season at Grays Harbor Raceway will kick off on Saturday night in Elma.
After an offseason of turmoil over who’ll promote the races at the longtime auto racing track at the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds, the season will start at 7 p.m.
Five racing classes will be featured on Saturday — 360 Sprints, modifieds, USAC midgets, street stocks and hornets — and will make up the main weekly racing cards this season. Fourteen weekly local rounds make up the bulk of the stacked schedule.
With Steve Beitler, the owner/promoter at Skagit Speedway in Alger, taking over the reins in Elma, the track will feature a crossover mix of 360 and 410 sprint car classes, plus a Summer Thunder Sprint Series and other regional drivers and car classes.
Annual special events at Elma will return, especially the 15th annual Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals in late July. The World of Outlaws national series will also return to Elma, slated for Labor Day Monday night.
Other regional series, like the Northwest Wingless Tour and the PHRA dwarfs, will be at Elma, along with the AMA Pro Motorcycle Flat Track riders and the Monster Energy Freestyle Motorcycle show.
Season tickets are still on sale for the raceway at (360) 757-6959. For more information on the schedule, drivers and weekly events, visit www.graysharborraceway.com.
