MONTESANO — All four of Grays Harbor’s largest schools will participate in an expanded Grays Harbor Football Jamboree on Friday at Montesano.
Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Elma and Montesano will be joined by Centralia and Tenino in the preseason event at Rottle Field, which will begin at 6 p.m.
It will be the first football action at Montesano since the Rottle Field grandstand, destroyed by fire in September, 2012, was rebuilt last spring.
An open house at Rottle Field — free of charge to the public — is scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Admission to the jamboree will be $3 for students and adults alike.
Each school’s varsity and JV teams will participate in 20-play (10 offensive, 10 defensive) mini-games Friday. The varsity and JV games will run concurrently on opposite sides of midfield.
Each offensive series will begin at the 40-yard line. First downs will be recorded. If a team is unable to make a first down in four plays, the ball will be brought back to the 40.
Scores will not officially be kept.
Each team is scheduled for two mini-games apiece. The jamboree schedule:
