Gulls face state semifinal test today

TACOMA — Raymond’s Seagulls will be seeking its first state football championship berth in 20 years when they take on Morton/White Pass in a Class 2B seminal game today at the Tacoma Dome.

The fifth-ranked Gulls and the top-ranked Timberwolves will square off at approximately 4:30 p.m. That will be the second game of a Tacoma Dome tripleheader today.

Mount Baker will face Cascade Christian in a Class 1A semi at 1 p.m. The program concludes with the Bellarmine Prep-Camas Class 4A contest at 7:30 p.m.

The Raymond-Morton/White Pass and Bellarmine Prep-Camas games will be regionally telecast on ROOT Sports.

The Gulls are attempting to reach the title game for the first time since their 1993 state championship season. Morton/White Pass is bidding for its third successive appearance in the 2B final.

The victor will take on the winner of the Adna-Lind/Ritzville semifinal also scheduled for this afternoon at Moses Lake.

Defending state champion Neah Bay advanced to the state 1B final with a 46-14 win over Lummi in a semifinal game Friday at the Tacoma Dome.

Today’s state semifinal program:

At Tacoma Dome: 1 p.m. — Cascade Christian vs. Mount Baker (Class 1A). 4:30 p.m. — Raymond vs. Morton/White Pass (Class 2B). 7:30 p.m. — Bellarmine Prep vs. Camas (Class 4A).

At Pasco: Noon — Federal Way vs. Chiwana (Class 4A). 3 p.m. — Tumwater vs. Prosser (Class 2A). 6 p.m. — Touchet vs. Rosalia (Class 1B).

At Moses Lake: 1 p.m. — Lynden vs. Ellensburg (Class 2A). 4 p.m. — Adna vs. Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (Class 2B).

At Spokane: 1 p.m. — Bellevue vs. Shadle Park (Class 3A). 4 p.m. — Cashmere vs. Freeman (Class 1A).
