Lumberjacks hand AHS boys first loss

LONGVIEW — R.A. Long dominated the boards and passed the ball well to finish off Aberdeen, 68-46, in non-league boys basketball on Friday at Longview.

Addam Follett led all Bobcat scorers with 12 points, three assists and three steals. Lorenzo Ontiveros added eight points for the Bobcats (2-1). The Bobcats were playing without guard Payton Campbell due to illness.

Deon Schlesser grabbed five rebounds to go with his five points. Veek Cheema dished up four assists.

Brady Hullings led all Lumberjacks scorers with 13 points. Three players scored 12 points.

“We did not pass, rebound or take care of the ball well,” said AHS head coach Leonard Barnes. “That led to too many turnovers, including 10 in the third quarter. We needed poise, but played hard in the fourth quarter.”

Barnes praised Ontiveros for fine offensive play around the basket.

On Tuesday, Aberdeen will host Black Hills in its league opener.
