Grays Harbor Birds — Sandhill Crane

There are some birds that stir emotions in me of awe and appreciation for just being able to see their grace, power, and beauty; the Sandhill Crane is on the top of that list. They migrate through some inland areas of the harbor, seldom stopping for long, so when the word gets out that there are some on the ground I try to drop everything and go see them. It is an unforgettable experience. Thanks to Dan and Sue Varland’s suggestion and nature photographer Rob Palmer’s excellent timing with his photo, I can share this bird with you.
