Monte grad Baker sets Arkansas State baseball records


MURRAY, Ky. — Montesano High graduate Austin Baker set two school records and tied another in leading Arkansas State’s baseball team to a 27-7 rout of Murray State on Tuesday at Murray.

Baker, a sophomore outfielder, hit home runs in three consecutive plate appearances to tie the school record in that category. He went 5-for-6 in the contest, with five RBIs.

He established single-game school records for runs scored with seven and total bases with 14.

For the season, Baker is batting .339, with 14 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .613. He also leads the team in stolen bases, having swiped seven in as many attempts.
