CENTRALIA — Harborites captured nine titles at the Centralia Freshman Invitational on Saturday.
Aberdeen’s Kyle Hurd and Montesano’s Shayla Floch were triple winners in the freshman-only meet.

Only one day after competing in an invitational meet at Ridgefield, Floch won the girls high long jump with a mark of 14-1 1/2, the girls 200 meters with a personal-best time of 26.99 and tied for first in the high jump with a mark of 4-10. She also established a PR while finishing second in the 100 meters.
Montesano’s Jordan Spradlin set a meet record of 38-10 in the girls shot put and also won the discus with a mark of 104-2.
Elma’s Kayli Jankord was the other Harbor champion, taking the girls triple jump at 31-2 1/2. Ocosta’s Kathryn Anderson was second in that event.
Eight of Montesano’s nine participants earned either medals or ribbons.
“If they had kept teams scores (in the girls meet), we would have won it,” Montesano girls coach Doug Schupbach said.
Elma’s Ira Hartford was another multiple medalist, placing in the top five in four events.
North Beach’s Seth Bridge established a personal record toss of 120-11 to place second in the boys discus. He was also second in the shot. Teammate Miguel Mendoza also set a PR in the boys 400 meters,.

MONTESANO — Rayna Ashlock scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Montesano a hard-fought win over Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls in a non-league game Saturday at Hyde Field.
Lakeside, which had suffered its first loss of the season Friday at Bainbridge, tied the contest at 5-5 on a two-run, two-out bloop single in the top of the seventh.
The Eagles, however, were unable to record an out in Montesano’s half of the seventh.
Ashlock drew a lead-off walk and stopped at second on Megan Choate’s third single of the contest. Both runners advanced on a passed ball before another passed ball produced the winning run.
The Bulldogs (11-4) smacked out 13 hits, including three by Staci Schneider. Only a triple shy of hitting for the cycle, Schneider blasted a solo home run to center field in the third inning.
“We had several players swing the bat well today,” Montesano coach Pat Pace said. “The only downside for us today turned out to be baserunning and I attribute that to not playing any games for a while.”
Winning pitcher Madison Didion struck out nine in going the distance. She allowed only five hits through the first six innings.
Cheyann Bartlett was cited for her hitting off the bench.
The Bulldogs host rival Elma in a critical doubleheader Monday.
