Seven Grays Harbor players named to Evergreen 1A basketball first team

Four Grays Harbor girls and three boys were named to all-Evergreen 1A League basketball teams announced this week.

Montesano freshman post Jordan Spradlin, who powered Montesano to an unbeaten regular-season record, received the girls Most Valuable Player award.

She joined teammate Megan Choate, Elma’s Brooke Goldsmith and Hoquiam’s Brandi Creviston on the girls first team.

Hoquiam guard Evan Newton, Elma guard Ryan Collin and Montesano forward Kenny Roy received boys all-league first team recognition. Rainier’s Zack Froembling took the boys MVP award.

Julie Graves, who guided Montesano’s senior-less girls team to the league championship, earned the girls Coach of the Year award. Curtis Eccles, who took Hoquiam to the league championship, and Doug Galloway, who directed an inexperienced Montesano team to a district berth, shared boys Coach of the Year honors.
