MENLO — Matt Konigsberger and Stephen Camenzind combined for 17 points in the fourth quarter as Willapa Valley rallied past Adna in a non-league game Monday night at Tenoski Gym.

Scoreless for the opening seven minutes, the Vikings (12-3) trailed 14-11 at the half. They came back to tie it at 30 after three quarters before Konigsberger tallied 10 of his 12 points and Camenzind seven of his team-high 16 in the fourth quarter.

Valley coach John Peterson was upset over his team’s slow start.

“I was really disappointed that we weren’t ready to play because this is a good group of kids, they know what it takes, and we got our tails kicked in the first half,” Peterson said. “At halftime, we talked about how about if we tried a little bit, don’t be afraid to fail and attack the rim. And they played well (the second half).”

Konigsberger also grabbed 14 rebounds.

Anthony Sagen scored 11 points for the Vikings and was credited by Peterson with helping to turn around the game with his play on both ends of the court. Hunter Gray was also cited for a stronger performance off the bench.

Adna’s Jordan Richardson led all scorers with 26 points.

The Vikings journey to Ocosta on Thursday.
