Eagles to host Seton Catholic in soccer

Elma will host Seton Catholic in a District IV Class 1A boys soccer quarterfinal contest scheduled for 6 p.m. today at Davis Field.

White Salmon will visit Toledo/Winlock in tonight’s other quarterfinal. The winners of those games will advance to Thursday’s semifinals at Kalama, while the losers will be eliminated.

Evergreen 1A top seed Hoquiam takes on the Toledo/Winlock-White Salmon winner in the first semifinal, scheduled for 5 p.m. Trico League champion La Center will face the Elma-Seton Catholic victor at approximately 7:15 p.m.

The tourney will conclude Saturday, with matches scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. at Kalama. The top three teams earn state berths.

Subdistrict track opens Wednesday

Postseason competition for area Class B track teams begins Wednesday.

The Pacific League subdistrict is scheduled for Naselle. Preliminaries in running events, plus a handful of field-event finals, begin at 3:30 p.m. The remainder of finals take place Friday at the same location. The top four in laned running events (the 800 meters and shorter) and top five in all other events advance to district May 22 at Raymond.

Area Class 1B teams will venture to Franklin Pierce High School in Parkland for the bi-district subdistrict Wednesday. This meet begins at 4:30 p.m. The top four in each event qualify for a quad-district meet May 22 at Port Angeles.

Poggies to meet Wednesday

The Grays Harbor Poggie Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoquiam Elks Hall.
