Twin Harbors teams compete at state Rec Cup quarterfinals in the snow

Five Twin Harbors teams advanced to the semifinals of the Recreational Cup youth soccer tournament with quarterfinal victories last weekend.

Three East County girls teams scored a clean sweep of quarterfinal matches Saturday at Aberdeen’s Stewart Field.

The Montesano Wildcats nipped the Union Hill Vipers, 1-0, in a U-12 contest. Abigail Parkin scored off an assist from Zoee Lisherness for the match’s lone goal.

The Elma/McCleary Dynamite downed the Kickin’ Kangaroos, 4-1, in the U-13 girls age group and the Montesano Renegades trounced the Port Angeles Intensity, 6-0, in girls U-14 play. Samantha Stanfield scored twice (the first on a penalty kick) for the Renegades, with Lindsey Hutchings, Mikayla Jacklin, Kayleigh Sutherby and Noelle Tingey adding the other goals.

The Vancouver Screamers edged the South Beach Wildcats, 2-1, in a U-11 quarterfinal at Vancouver.

The Harbor Sounders topped Silver Lake Rosso, 2-1, in a boys U-15 quarterfinal at Everett. The Willapa Harbor Health Pros Northwest U-17 team also advanced with a 4-0 win over the Tsunami on Sunday at Stewart Field.

Pacific Eye Clinic of Willapa Harbor lost to the Silver Lake Bombers, 3-0, in a U-11 quarterfinal at Stewart Field. The Bainbridge Island Bulldogs beat the Harbor Hooligans, 3-1, in the U-13 boys tourney, the Vancouver Dragons nipped the Harbor Youth Soccer Club Chivas, 1-0, in Boys 16-U play at Vancouver and the Tracyton Bombers from the Bremerton area notched a 1-0 win over the Harbor Youth Soccer Club Bieker in the U-19 division at Stewart Field.

All winners advance to semifinals this weekend at the Starfire Soccer Complex at Tukwila.

The semifinal pairings:


U-12 Girls: 9 a.m. — Montesano Wildcats vs. FME Yellow Jackers (winner to play for championship at 2 p.m.).

U-13 Girls: 10:30 a.m. — Elma/McCleary Dynamite vs. Tracyton Havoc (winner to play for championship at 3 p.m.).

U-14 Girls: Noon — Montesano Renegades vs. Vancouver West Dynamite (winner to play for championship at 4 p.m).


Boys U-15: 9 a.m. — Harbor Sounders vs. J’98 FC Screaming Thunder (winner to play for championship at 1:30 p.m.)

Boys U-17: 9 a.m. — Willapa Harbor Health Pros Northwest vs. Fall City Rovers (winner to play for championship at 3:15 p.m.).
