PULLMAN — Washington State University head baseball coach and Aberdeen High School grad Donnie Marbut was involved in a four-car accident in Pullman on Thursday afternoon.
Marbut, in his ninth season as head coach and 10th year at WSU, was taken to Pullman Regional Hospital for observation and was released hours later, according to a Washington State University press release.
According to media reports, witnesses at the scene said Marbut’s truck was driving erratically at a high rate of speed on Main Street. The truck allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed into three cars.
Pullman police told the Spokane Spokesman-Review confirmed Marbut was in involved and there were no signs of any type of intoxication.
According to the press release, Marbut was driving to the Cougar baseball game at Bailey-Brayton Field at the time of the accident. He didn’t coach in Thursday or Friday’s games against San Jose State.
