Patricia”Patti” Mae Rosander, surrounded by family and friends in her Hoquiam, Wash. home, passed away from breast cancer on June 19, 2017, at the age of 74.
Patti was born to Tharien and Eva Fugate (deceased) on Dec. 22, 1942, in Tacoma, Wash. Patti attended Franklin Pierce HS in Tacoma and earned her degree from Evergreen State College. Throughout her life, Patti worked in both hospitality and human services field, spending extensive time as a part-time, chemical dependency counselor and social worker for the Quinault Nation. Patti’s influence in her community was exemplified by the revolving-door nature of her home, where everyone was welcome and no one was excluded.
After living in Taholah for 10 years, which let her be closer to the ocean that she loved, Patti married Kenny on Dec. 29, 1991. Together they enjoyed various activities which included shuffle board, casinos, road trips, and campout family reunions. Patti also enjoyed individual pursuits such as reading, crossword puzzles, and various arts and crafts which were often shared with her children and grandchildren.
Patti is survived by her husband of 26 years, Ken Rosander, sisters Louella, Carmen and Kathy, children Melody, Terry, John, Traci, Lenny (Mo), Troy (Star), Shannon, Kelli (Pat), Brenda (Mike), 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and many others who called her “mom”.
Patti was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters Roseann and Marlene, and by her son Trevor.
A celebration of life will take place in mid July with specifics being detailed on social media.
