Dorothy Jean Amanda Aronson, 88, former co-owner of Harbor Battery and longtime Aberdeen resident, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash.
Dorothy was born on Sept. 11, 1928, in Montesano, Wash., to Paul and Elizabeth (Mundt) Franke. She attended school in Montesano.
On June 24, 1950, Dorothy married Myron Aronson in Montesano, Wash. He died on Jan. 27, 1997.
She moved to Aberdeen after her marriage. She helped Myron with Harbor Battery when they bought it in 1958 until she sold it in 1999. She had also worked as a waitress at Brecks Restaurant and Swaneze Ice Cream Parlor in the 60’s.
She was a member of the Grays Harbor Country Club and was a team captain. She also enjoyed going on golfing vacations, gardening and driving around town looking at other home landscaping. She loved having a glass of wine and talking with the kids and having coffee at her daughter Belinda’s home.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Mike (Mary Rodriguez) Aronson of Aberdeen; two daughters: Belinda (Joel) Tyndell of Aberdeen and Michelle Aronson of Centralia, Wash.; six grandchildren: Jenny, Jacob, Andrew, Joshua, Megan and Chelsea; eight great-grandchildren: Kylee, Madison, Cameron, Jericho, Isaiah, Koit Jr., Brooke and Kymani. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Jim and Ken Burnham and a sister Caroline Foresman.
Per her request, there were no services. A private family graveside service did take place at Fern Hill Cemetery.
