Dead man found in Aberdeen was from Ocean Shores

Man was released from the GHCH after and last seen in Aberdeen on Aug. 6

The Grays Harbor Coroner’s Office identified the body found Sept. 2 in Aberdeen near the Hoquiam border as that of Steven T. Dolling, 56, of Ocean Shores.

Cause and manner of Dolling’s death won’t be further pinpointed until the coroner’s office receives toxicology test results. His autopsy was completed Wednesday afternoon. The procedure turned up no indications of foul play, County Coroner Lane Youmans reported.

Dolling’s partially decomposed remains were discovered on brush-filled land between the 300 block of Oak Street and the Bi-Mart store on Myrtle Street. The location is near Fry Creek, the Aberdeen Trail and downhill from Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

Dolling had been released from the hospital after receiving care and was last seen in Aberdeen on Aug. 6, said Aberdeen Police Department spokesman Lt. Kevin Darst.

A family member filed a missing persons report with Ocean Shores Police. Aberdeen police were also aware relatives were concerned about Dolling, and officers had been on the lookout for him, Darst said.
