The 15th season of Sunday Afternoon Live debuts this weekend at the Raymond Theatre.
The new season opens Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Quebe Sisters, a Texas trio whose three-part harmony and fiddling blend musical genres from contemporary to country. (The name rhymes with “maybe.”)
Growing up in the Fort Worth suburb of Burleson, Hulda, Sophia and Grace were ages 7, 10 and 12 in 1998 when they attended their first local fiddle competition in nearby Denton, and decided fiddling was what they wanted to do. They won state and national championships in their respective age groups each year from 1999 to 2002.
Along with headlining their own shows, they’ve shared stages with the likes of Willie Nelson, George Strait and Merle Haggard. They have recorded three albums to date.
Sunday Afternoon Live was able to engage the trio with grants from the Western States Arts Federation and several other organizations. The Quebe Sisters also helped offset the costs associated with bringing their show to Raymond.
