Molly Genevieve (Halverson) Johnson of Aberdeen passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 88.
Molly was born on July 31, 1928, to Edward and Anna (Pierce) Halverson in Cosmopolis, Wash., and graduated with the Weatherwax High School Class of 1946. She then went on to attend Washington State University, where she joined Kappa Delta sorority.
On Aug. 4, 1951, she married Harold Grigsby Johnson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, Wash. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage and enjoyed years of world travel, skiing, golf, biking, good friends and family.
Molly was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and Amazing Grace Lutheran Church and PEO Chapter DP (past president) and an active member in many local groups including: Review Club (Aberdeen), Touchdowners, Harbor Eights, Amazing Grace Quilters, Grays Harbor Country Club, Sons of Norway, PTA, Young Mothers and 4 bridge groups.
Molly is survived by her loving husband Harold Grigsby Johnson; their son Jeffrey (Juli) Johnson of Bellevue, Wash.; their daughters Janet Silver of Mercer Island and Joan (William) Rabung of Aberdeen, Wash.; and her brother George (Trudy) Halverson of Bellevue, Wash. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Trevor (Annik) and Tanor Johnson, Molly and Mari Rabung; one great-granddaughter Nora Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Molly was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Anna Halverson; son Craig Johnson; brother David Halverson; and sister Betty Leffler.
Molly was laid to rest in a private graveside service at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen, Wash. Memorials in Molly’s name may be made to Amazing Grace Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
