Several Grays Harbor players and coaches were recognized on the all-Coastal 1B League girls and boys basketball teams announced recently.
Taholah’s Denise Curleybear and Nettie Mail and Lake Quinault’s Kat Neeland were named to the girls first team. Mary M. Knight’s Kaylee Sowle took league Most Valuable Player honors.
Karl Braden, who guided Taholah to an unbeaten league season, was selected as the girls Coach of the Year. North River received the Sportsmanship Award.
Taholah’s Zach Cain was a unanimous choice as the boys MVP. He joined teammate James Orozco and North River’s Luis Nieves, among others, on the first team.
Sean Pierson, who directed North River to its first district berth since 2008, earned Coach of the Year honors. Wishkah received the Sportsmanship Award.
