Barbara Jean (Fuller) Lester, 87, of Montesano, Wash., passed away peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018, at the Beehive Retirement and Assisted Living Facility in McCleary.
Barbara was born April 22, 1930, near McCleary to George and Marjorie (Fuller) Fuller. Her maternal grandparents were farmers and had moved to Washington State from Montana in 1918. Barb graduated from Elma High School in 1947, later graduating from Grays Harbor College.
She married Donald Lambert in 1951, and moved to Montesano in 1957 after Don began working at the Weyerhaeuser pulp mill in Cosmopolis. She was later married to Vern Lester from 1979 until he died in 1981.
She worked for Grays Harbor County for many years, starting with the building and planning department, and eventually moving on to the treasurer’s office.
Barbara is survived by her three children: Randy (Janneen) Lambert of Buckeye, Ariz., Deatra Harrington of McCleary, and Jerry (Nadine) Lambert of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren: Nathan Lambert, Corey Lambert and Siobhan Peterson; and great-grandchildren: Liora Peterson, Ernie Peterson and Carson Lambert.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, being a Master Gardener, cooking, entertaining, movies and travel. She was a devoted member of the Christian Science church of Aberdeen.
Her many selfless acts of helping others will be remembered and cherished. She regarded helping her children succeed as her greatest accomplishment in life.
At Barbara’s request, no service will be held. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
