They will use interaction with horses as therapy for special needs kids

A newly formed group that will offer therapy for special needs kids through interaction with horses, is raising money and plans a golf tournament at Highland Golf Course Sunday, May 20.

The group is called The Horse Prayer and the golf tournament is in a four-person scramble format with a $200 entry fee per team. The fee includes golf, range balls, field prizes, lunch and two drink tickets.

The Horse Prayer Ranch is near Copalis Crossing. The non-profit group is a public charity and still raising money for an expected opening later this year.

Its website describes the volunteer organization as a “faith based therapeutic riding center founded on April 13, 2017, to serve the needs of school-aged individuals with special needs in Grays Harbor and surrounding communities. This program offers on-site, certified instructors, therapy professionals, trained volunteers and will be accepting applications for equine interactive instructions in the near future.”

The group says it provides a “safe environment for equines, disabled individuals, professionals and volunteers to establish a unique partnership incorporating interactive educational games, movements, communication and problem solving with a skilled horse.”
