On Aug. 6, 2016, Estella Krussel went to be with her beloved husband Robert for all eternity. Estella was born in Gate, Wash., on Aug. 7, 1922, to George and Clara Hodges. She lived in Gate for 14 years attending the one room school house through the eighth grade. Her family then moved to Hoquiam where she graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1940.
She was working for the Kress Company when she and Robert met in 1941. They married in July 1942. When Robert returned from the war in 1945, they settled in Hoquiam where she became a homemaker and raised her children. In the 1960’s she went to work for Simon’s Hardware in Hoquiam for several years.
She and Robert moved to Central Park in 1973. During this time she discovered she loved making ceramics. She opened a small business and, for many years, sold her ceramics at various holiday bazaars. She was also a partner in a small ceramic shop and gift house. In 2004 she moved to Olympia.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and her sister Margarete Rice. She is survived by her son Gary Krussel (Nancy), her daughter Cindy Connolly, four granddaughters Nicole, Muffett, Lajuan and Teresa, eight great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held for family only.
