Betty Jean (Nichols) Shale a long time resident of Aberdeen, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital; she was 59.

Betty Jean (Nichols) Shale, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. She was 59.

Betty was born July 25, 1958, in Aberdeen, Wash., the daughter of Doreen Gladys (Adams) Brown and Larry Carlton Brown.

In 1991 Betty married Steven Shale. Betty was self-employed and worked in the upholstery business for many years. Betty had many hobbies. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and loved cooking and baking for her family during the holidays, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. Betty was a selfless and kind person and often put others before herself. She was loved and cherished by many and will be greatly missed.

Betty is survived by her husband Steven Shale, sons Randy L. Francis, Dennis D. Francis Jr. both of Aberdeen; six grandchildren Shyla, Jarred, Tree, Thomika, Tyee, and Lliana; one great-grandchild, Adeline and many nieces and nephews. Betty is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Buck Nichols and Bruce Brown of Humptulips, Bill Brown of Hoquiam, Brenda Vakarro of Elma, Bonnie Jamieson of Montesano, and Barbara Orozco of Redding, Calif. Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father Doreen and Larry Brown.

There will be a memorial at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Schaffer State Park on East Satsop Road in Elma, Wash. All are welcome to attend the celebration of life immediately following the service.
