Catherine Salvaggi
Catherine (Kitty) Salvaggi of Elma passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Summit Pacific Medical Center. She was 88. Kitty was born on Jan. 28, 1930, to Michael and Margaret (Mooney) O’Toole in Anaconda, Mont. She graduated from St. Paul Catholic School in 1948 and Butte Business College in 1950. With her newly obtained degree, Kitty went to work for the Montana State Register Office.
On May 31, 1952, Kitty married John Salvaggi. They moved to the Elma area in 1968 and have called it home since, enjoying over 50 years together.
Kitty enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was also a member of the Hunter’s Prairie Card Club and Hunter’s Prairie Birthday Club.
Kitty is survived by her children Michael (Angie) Salvaggi and Mary Hanson both of Elma, Wash; sister Dorothy Rowe of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; grandchildren Tracie, Pattie (Cory), Barry (Brenna), Joey (Tiffinni) and Darcy (Elvie); and great-grandchildren Natalie, Tommy, Leila, Amaya, Tayven, Cora and Lauren as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, brother, Jack Hamner, brother-in-law, Jim Rowe, and son-in-law, Charles Hanson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Summit Pacific Medical Center, Harbors Home Health & Hospice, Catholic Community Services and longtime caregiver, Tami Munch.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at 12 Salvaggi Lane in Elma on Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m. An inurnment at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Elma will take place at a later date.
