Gary Allen Steinborn, a South Bend resident, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Willapa Harbor Hospital; he was 69.

Gary Allen Steinborn, a South Bend resident, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Willapa Harbor Hospital; he was 69. Gary was born March 11, 1949, in Westfir, Ore., to August Steinborn and Thelma Flock.

He served in the United States Army from April 1968 until he was honorable discharged in April of 1971. In January of 1974 he re-enlisted until February of 1983.

Gary is survived by two sons, Tracy and Bridget Steinborn of Aberdeen, Wash. and Gary Steinborn of Copalis Crossing, Wash., seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren as well as siblings Carl and Joyce Long of Sweet Home, Ore., Roy Steinborn also of Sweet Home, Ore., Bill and Judy Steinborn of Roy, Wash., Bob and Shirley Steinborn of Tacoma, Wash. and Doug and Kathy Pomrankey of Cocolalla, Idaho. He was preceded in death by brothers John and Charles Steinborn and a sister Mary Steinborn as well as a sister-in-law Irene.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Central Park Methodist Church at 6508 Manor Road, Aberdeen, WA 98520, where military honors will be accorded.
