A homeless man was arrested in Ocean Shores Friday after police say he attempted to flee from a Sheriff’s deputy pulling him over for a traffic stop.
On May 25, Deputy Tracy Gay from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office was working in Ocean Shores and attempted to make a traffic stop at 6:35 p.m. on East Rain Street Northeast. The vehicle he was stopping fled, turning northbound onto Morning Star Lane, which is a dead end street.
At the end of the street, the driver and passenger fled in different directions on foot, according to a police report. Gay released his K9 unit, Max, who quickly brought the running driver to the ground.
The 24-year-old suspect, who is listed as being a homeless man living in the Aberdeen area, was checked by paramedics on the scene. He was then taken to Summit Pacific Hospital to be treated for his wounds, before being booked at the Grays Harbor County Jail.
He is facing likely charges of attempting to elude a police vehicle, and driving with a suspended license. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Grays Harbor District Court. The passenger has not been identified and isn’t being sought for charges.
