Dave Alan Lund died Monday, May 21, 2018. He was 62. Dave was born on Jan. 18, 1956, in Chehalis, Wash. to Paul and Wilma Lund.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Carlson Lund in their Raymond home; his sister, Sheila (Bob) Gregg of Port Angeles; three step-sons, Jeff (Sonja) Ping of Tenino, Shanan (Erin) Ping of Raymond and Jamie Ping of Raymond. He adored his grandchildren, Christopher Ping, Delaney Ping, Alexandra Ping, Marissa O’Connor, Addison Ping, and Markus Ping. He is also survived by his cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Lund and his mother, Wilma Lund.

Dave grew up in Winlock, Wash. for most of his life. He graduated from Mt. St. Helen’s High School in 1974. He then attended umpire school in Florida, Grays Harbor College and Centralia Community College and Central Washington University. He also received his Master’s Degree in 2005.

Dave married the love of his life, Donna Carlson Lund on July, 8, 2000. He had many different loves but nothing compared to the love he had for his wife.

Dave led a very full life and enjoyed sharing his love of the theater, history, music, musicals and sports, especially baseball with his wife and family. Almost every year he organized a family trip to a Mariner’s game. Dave and Donna would take trips every summer to Leavenworth to enjoy the many plays. Dave had also helped develop and encourage many youth in their baseball endeavors and was president of the Willapa Baseball Association previously. Dave had a head for facts and trivia and enjoyed debating issues and talking about history. Dave was very into the local theaters and acted and directed many plays at the Hannen Playhouse and Driftwood Theatre. He also held offices at the Hannen Playhouse. He was an active member in the local Elks and was a member of the Eagles as well. He also belonged to the Willapa Harbor Choral.

Dave was very active at Raymond High School as a teacher as well as a coach. He taught for 30 years with most of his time being at Raymond High School. He was the band director for many years and taught choir and history and also coached, volleyball, football, basketball and golf. This year he got to be part of his dream to bring baseball back to Raymond High School. Dave was always there for his students and helped guide and support their dreams and goals.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, June 2, at 2 p.m. in the Raymond High School gym. There will be a reception at the Raymond Elks following the service. Memorials may be made to the Raymond High School Baseball program.
