Chokers sweep Trailblazers

CENTRALIA — Grays Harbor College rallied in the final two sets to sweep Centralia College in an NWAC Western Division match on Wednesday.

The Chokers (3-2, 14-13) trailed in the second set and were down by as many as six points in the third set before clawing their way back to earn the win.

GHC was led offensively by 14 kills from Bria Buchanan and 10 kills from Brooke Spoor. Spoor’s 10 kills came on just 15 attempts. Both Buchanan and Spoor each added three solo blocks. Sara Caraveo led the Chokers with 15 assists.

“It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but we battled through it,” GHC coach Christine Nelson said. “Anytime we started to get on a roll, our passing and defense started to get into sync. Once we got the ball to our hitters, everybody hit over .300 percent.”

GHC hosts Green River on Friday.
