Remembering Diane Ellison

Staunch promoter of Grays Harbor

Diane Ellison, who passed away recently, was remarkable and gifted.

What I remember most was her talent for being kind and generous. She was a woman of stature and grace and intellect. Her way was open and honest and quite unique. Very talented.

My first meeting was at Satsop and she promoted this community in many ways. Always friendly and never ever stern and her smile was awesome. Her love for this place showed and the top was her way, never taking the low road.

Her battle was fought here and her strength was remarkable. These memories of her went back 21 years and she had many interests — the state Legislature, the Lady Washington and she was a fighter for women of all ages.

Her presence over those aforementioned decades was inspiring to this man who is looking at 70. She was six years my senior but my times with her brought out the best in me. The times included her involving me in Satsop and PUD plans and she valued my input, as my base was analytic and that so complemented her people skills.

Always taking the high road. What a blessing to have know her. Keep on keeping on young lady, I will always love you and you will be in my heart and mind for the rest of my journey, whether that be another year or 10.
