Roaring saws, sawdust clouds highlight annual Loggers Playday

Roaring chainsaws and showers of sawdust, not to mention log-rolling mayors, highlighted the 54th annual Hoquiam Loggers Playday competition Saturday evening.

Johnny Boggs won high point logger honors, and Mike Forrester won all-around logger. Events including choker setting, chainsaw bucking and the popular springboard chop.

Hoquiam Mayor Jasmine Dickhoff and Aberdeen Mayor Erik Larson made good on their word and had a friendly log-rolling competition. In the end, Larson was declared the victor.

The event ended with a fireworks show.
