Montesano 62, Eatonville 50
Sam Winter scored 25 points to lead the Montesano Bulldogs to a 62-50 victory over Eatonville on Tuesday in Montesano.
In addition to Winter’s big-scoring night, the junior guard added six rebounds, four assists and three steals to his stat-line.
Shaydon Farmer and Trace Ridgway had double-digit scoring nights for Monte (4-2 overall). Farmer scored 13 points and grabbed six boards while Ridgway added 12 points.
The win ends Monte’s short, two-game skid after suffering losses to 2A schools Black Hills and Aberdeen.
The Bulldogs’ tough non-league schedule continues when they travel to face the two-time defending Oregon 4A state champions — the Seaside Seagulls — at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Castle Rock 85, Hoquiam 81
Hoquiam put up a valiant effort, but fell shot in triple overtime 85-81 at Castle Rock on Tuesday.
The Grizzlies (2-4 overall) were pushing for a fourth overtime when they found themselves down by two with less than a minute to go.
The Rockets (4-3) got to the line after a technical foul and hit one of their free throws to push the lead to three. Castle Rock then got the ball back after its made free throw and scored on that possession to make it a 85-79 lead to put the game out of reach.
Hoquiam played a lot of the game without four of its starters on the floor, but the one remaining starter, Matt Brown, broke a school record with 46 points in seven periods of play. Brown also grabbed 22 boards in the contest.
“Matt was the lone starter that stayed in the game,which was to our advantage because they didn’t have answer for him,” said Hoquiam head coach Curtis Eccles.
Before falling short in the third overtime, Hoquiam got a big play off the bench from Garrett Dick, who hit a game-extending layup as time expired in the second overtime to tie the contest at 73.
Castle Rock got the edge with the help of leading-scorer Connor Edwards, who posted 28 points, 21 of which were scored in the second half and overtime.

Clallam Bay 57, Lake Quinault 50
Kenneth Sellers and Anthony DeMarco recorded double-doubles as the Lake Quinault Elks lost to Clallam Bay 57-50 on Tuesday at Lake Quinault High School.
Sellers had 17 points, 10 rebounds and two steals for the Elks (0-3 overall) while DeMarco had 16 points, 11 boards and five assists.
Lake Quinault junior Thunder Mowitch also scored in double figures, netting 11 points on the evening.
Despite the loss, Elks head coach Chris Christiansen was pleased with his team’s effort.
“It was a really intense game.” he said. “Our guys played really hard. … They played intense basketball the entire night. I’m really proud of these guys.”
Lake Quinault hit 13-of-37 shots and were 8-for-33 from downtown.
The Elks host Crescent at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday (time subject to change).

GIRLS PREP BASKETBALL
South Bend 56, Pe Ell 29
The South Bend Indians got big games from seniors Jessica Sanchez and Karley Reidinger in a 56-29 victory over Pe Ell on Tuesday at South Bend High School.
Sanchez filled the stat sheet, scoring a team-high 19 points and dishing out five assists to go along with six steals.
Reidinger, recorded another double-double, with 18 points and 10 boards.
“Our seniors did a nice job keeping the game somewhat under control,” South Bend head coach Gary Wilson said. “Jess and Karley did a nice job scoring from both long range and in the paint.”
Pe Ell (2-5 overall, Pacific 2B) outplayed South Bend early on, according to Wilson, and led 11-10 at the end of the first quarter.
“Pe Ell really came to play. In the early stages of the game, they just played harder than us,” he said.
But South Bend (4-2) rallied behind its defense to allow just 10 points in the second half en route to the 2B Pacific League triumph.
“The story of the game was defense, especially in the second half,” Wilson said, adding sophomore guard Zaira Medina “did a great job controlling the top of our zone.”
Pe Ell travels to play North Beach on Thursday. Tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
South Bend has a big test in front of them, facing one of the league’s top teams in Ocosta (6-1, 6-0) at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Westport.

Ilwaco 66, Raymond 34
Raymond had its troubles with one of the Pacific League leaders in a 66-34 loss to the Ilwaco Fishermen on Tuesday at Ilwaco High School.
“Ilwaco in the first half looked much like the league leaders that they have proven to be,” Raymond head coach Derek Rask said. “They beat us in every phase of the game, even effort.”
Ilwaco (8-0, 7-0 Pacific 2B) shut down Raymond (3-3, 3-2) early on and held what would turn out to be an insurmountable 25-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Down 42-10 at the half, Raymond had its best quarter of the game, outscoring Ilwaco 16-6 in the period.
“I thought our effort level was much better,” Rask said.
The Fishermen shot 19-for-36 in the first half, with many of Ilwaco’s points coming off of layups as Raymond struggled to get back on defense.
Izzy Silvernail came off the bench to score 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting for the Seagulls.
“She gave a solid effort in handling the ball,” Rask said of his sophomore guard’s performance.
Raymond freshman Kyra Gardner scored 11 points on the evening, seven of those coming in the Seagulls 16-point third quarter.
Erika Glenn led Ilwaco with 17 points.
Ilwaco also controlled the boards on Tuesday, outrebounding Raymond 36-20.
Raymond hosts Northwest Christian at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
“I think our team is looking forward to getting back on the floor and competing at a high level from the time we step in the gym,” Rask said.
