BOYS PREP BASKETBALL

Napavine 70, Raymond 64

The Seagulls got off to a slow start and couldn’t recover in a 70-64 road loss to Napavine on Saturday.

Raymond struggled at both ends of the floor and had a particularly hard time slowing down Dawson Stanley and Cade Evander who scored 23 and 21 points, respectively.

The Seagulls closed the gap on Napavine in the second half thanks in large part to 19-point scoring night from Tre Seydel. Cole Enslow also chipped in with 13 points.

Raymond head coach Derek Rask said he was happy to see his team flip the switch at halftime.

“We gave up too many points and we struggled to follow our gameplan. Our efforts in the second half were much better,” he said. “We talked at the half about winning the second half and we were able to do that.”

The Gulls will get back to league play when they take on the Indians in South Bend on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
