Westport Police will continue to investigate an alleged assault of a Westport woman on Dec. 27, but the department has concluded there is no ongoing danger to the community.
During the reported incident just after midnight on Dec. 27, Abra Mcmullin said she was riding her bicycle home on the corner of Patterson and Montesano streets when an unknown male in a white vehicle pulled up next to her and tried to force her into it. Mcmullin, 34, said the man began kicking her while trying to drag her into the car. Mcmullin posted a photo of her injuries on Facebook.
In a press release Thursday, Police Chief Tracy Rosenow said the department doesn’t believe there’s a suspect at large in the case. While Rosenow said the investigation will continue, he added the department has “no reason to believe there is an increased danger of random attacks in the community.”
Mcmullin described the suspect as a younger male with dark skin, according to Rosenow in an email.
The case will remain open, and Rosenow said he encourages people with information relating to it contact the Westport Police Department. The department can be reached at 360-268-9197.
