John Henry Phelps Jr. “Hotshot” passed away on Dec. 18, 2018, at his home.

John was born on July 24, 1946, to John Phelps and Betty Miller. He had two sisters, Deanna and Peggy. They resided in Warrenton, Ore., and later moved to the Copalis Beach area.

John was married to Sheila Pink and they had two children. After they divorced, he married Linda Salikie and they also had two children. He later married Cindy Wigfield. He was single at the time of his death.

John worked as a mechanic and had also owned an auto wrecking business. He was an avid fisherman, the Copalis River being his favorite. He also loved to go for rides on the beach and to take photos. He was a proud father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He also had several nieces and nephews that he was close with, always willing to visit with them or help them out when needed.

John is survived by his daughters, Becky Glasgow (Darrin) and Mary Papp (Nelson). He is also survived by his grandchildren, David, Alexis and Rebecka McKay, Breanna, Veronica and Crystal Glasgow, and Krissa and Kamimi Papp. He had eight great-grandchildren. He also had two sons he helped raise, Derrick Hayden and Carl Buxton. John is also survived by his great-niece, Jacklyn Johnson, whom he loved to play cards with. John’s children John and Kimberly Phelps and his grandson Louis McKay preceded him in death.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. He has been cremated and his ashes will be spread in the Copalis River sometime in the spring. Should you go fishing or take a ride on the beach, take a moment to remember him.
