Arlene D. Lewis, 71, a resident of the Harbor all her life, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen.

Arlene D. Lewis, 71, a resident of the Harbor all her life, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen. Arlene was born in Aberdeen on Nov. 21, 1947, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Ida (Davidson) Spencer.

She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1966 and would later receive a nursing degree from Grays Harbor College. She would work as a nurse at the East Campus St. Joseph’s Hospital convalescent home, in-home care and Harbor Home Health and Hospice care for many years.

Arlene married Hammond “Hal” Lewis in Montesano June 13, 1986. He survives at the family home in South Aberdeen.

She enjoyed “garage sailing.” She was best known for her caring and compassion for others.

Besides her husband of 32 years, Hammond “Hal” Lewis, at the South Aberdeen family home, she is survived by two sons: Brian A. Tingwall, Aberdeen, and Sergeant First Class Shaun Spencer, Wabasha, Minnesota; a nephew Christopher Vita, Aberdeen, and nieces: Dawn Vita, Montesano, Deanne King, Aberdeen; a brother Charles (Mary Lou) Spencer, Cosmopolis; two sisters: Annette Lund, Vancouver, Washington, and Diane Hale, Thousand Oaks, California; as well as two grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and Friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Ida Mullins, sisters Linda Vita and Judy Wilson, and a brother Larry Spencer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, in the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Cosmopolis Lions Club.
