The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Friday that the remains discovered Thursday afternoon in northwest Olympia are human.

The Sheriff’s Office was called about 4:45 p.m. Thursday to the 2200 block of Overhulse Road Northwest. A citizen who had been walking about 50 yards into the woods had found the remains.

Responding patrol deputies found what appeared to be the full skeletal remains of an adult human along with clothing and accessory items. Deputies said the remains were primarily intact within a small area.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Thurston County Coroner’s Office processed the scene on Friday.

Further details such as specific identity or manner of death were not released Friday.
